
WWE Night of Champions is supposed to take place on June 28th this week, but theres been a lot of uncertainty over the show actually happening following the current issues between Iran and the U.S. With that in mind, it appears that WWE canceling Night of Champions would not be a breach of contract.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez gave an update on Night of Champions following the current issues between Iran and the USA and. He said the event has not been canceled, and as of now everyone scheduled to attend is still set to fly out on Wednesday.
Alvarez also mentioned that if WWE decides to pull out of the Saudi Arabia show, it wouldnt be considered a breach of contract. While WWE would likely need to schedule a makeup show later on, the current plan is to move forward as if the event is still happening. He added that a final decision needs to be made by Wednesday.
It is to be noted that Qatar temporarily shut down its airspace on Monday to keep both its citizens and visitors safe. Its not clear when the airspace will reopen. The closure follows recent U.S. airstrikes on several nuclear sites in Iran over the weekend and Iran has already fired at a U.S. airbase in Qatar.
We have also reported that the WWE roster is still waiting for answers as the current situation unfolds. With tensions actually growing in the Middle East, WWEs Night of Champions is still uncertain just days before the event. For now, the company is moving forward with its plans, but a final decision is expected soon. Therefore, well have to see if WWE does cancel the event soon.
