Luka Doncic has reacted after the news broke of the Los Angeles Lakers record-shattering sale.
With the franchise officially changing hands from the Buss family to Dodgers owner Mark Walter in a deal reportedly valued at ten billion dollars, Doncic went straight to social media to share his thoughts.
The Lakers are an amazing organization, Doncic posted on X. Im looking forward to meeting Mark and excited about the future. I am also grateful to Jeanie [Buss] and the Buss family for welcoming me to LA, and Im happy that Jeanie will continue to be involved. I look forward to working with both of them to win championships!
Longtime NBA insider Brian Windhorst thinks the sale will benefit the Lakers greatly and should be a worry for other teams in the league.
The Lakers are only going to get more dangerous as an organisation with the more resources that are going to be poured in, longtime NBA insider Brian Windhorst said on Unsportsmanlike Radio.
He added that the Lakers are headed for a modernisation under Walter, calling it a shift that other teams should not be excited about.
Now, the focus shifts to whether the new ownership helps lock Doncic in for the long haul.
Doncic will be eligible for a lucrative contract extension worth up to four years and $229 million from the purple and gold as soon as this summer.
Since arriving, the 26-year-old star has put up elite numbers, averaging 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists over 28 games in the 2024-25 season.
