There has been a ton of speculation about SmackDown going back to two hours ever since the show changed to a three-hour runtime this year. As it turns out, the blue brand will return to the classic two-hour format sooner than expected.

According to a report by PWInsider, Friday Night SmackDown will return to the old two-hour format on July 4th. Therefore, fans wont really have to wait much longer to say goodbye to SmackDown being a three-hour show.

This comes after we had previously reported that Friday Night SmackDown will be sticking toa three-hour format for the foreseeable future. On the other hand, it was speculated that the show was going to revert back to two hours on August 15th because of the Rainmaker. However, its clear the show will be going back much sooner than that now.

Friday Night SmackDown being a three-hour show has received mixed responses from fans. This is because many felt the show simply didnt have enough content or proper stories to make the three-hour transition watchable.
