During the June 16 episode of RAW in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Hall of Famer shocked fans with his return to WWE TV, officially challenging GUNTHER to a match on July 12 at Saturday Nights Main Event in Atlanta, Georgia.
But it wasnt just Goldbergs return that had people talking. Fans immediately spotted that he was sporting brand-new merch, a black shirt reading Goldbergs Last Ride across the front. That wasnt just a fashion statementit was a signal that WWE is going all in on promoting his retirement.
WWE Shop didnt waste any time. Within minutes, their homepage was updated to feature Goldbergs new merchandise, complete with a dedicated section promoting his farewell. For fans whove followed him since WCW or through his explosive WWE runs, this is one last chance to own a piece of the legacy.
Goldbergs Last Ride merch instantly grabbed attention during his return segment, which ended with him declaring to GUNTHER: You started something with me in Atlanta and Im finishing it in Atlanta. GUNTHER youre next.
The match will take place in Goldbergs hometown of Atlanta, giving the entire showdown an even deeper emotional punch. WWE clearly sees the moment as a major milestone, and theyre stacking every element around itfrom surprise returns and pyro to new apparelto make it unforgettable.
Goldberg has made it clear that this isnt just another match. He recently admitted during a CarCast appearance that hes been training hard, though injuries have already piled up. I hurt myself a couple times in the past three months. But I pulled back, he said. It is tough. Ive got a very high bar to set and 99 times out of a hundred, its unrealistic.
Still, hes going through with it. And now, with merch and a match officially confirmed, fans can count down the days until his final bout.
