The June 13 episode of WWE SmackDown continued the road to Night of Champions. Another King of the Ring tournament match took place.
Randy Orton, Carmelo Hayes, LA Knight, and Aleister Black faced off in a four-way match. This match went down first of the night, after John Cenas thirty-minute opening promo with Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and LA Knight.
This match stretched through a commercial break, and fans in Lexington were very much behind everything LA Knight did. Fans ate this match up, and chanted away as all four men battled to move forward in the tournament.
Aleister Black was able to show off a few times, and Carmelo Hayes nearly got the win after a frog splash. Then they went through a second commercial break as the match went past the 15-minute mark. When we got back, Randy Orton was about to nail a double draping DDT on Black and Hayes, but then Knight nailed a neckbreaker for a near fall.
Knight hit a BFT on Black, but Hayes broke up the pin. Bronson Reed showed up out of nowhere to distract LA Knight as Bron Breakker nailed a spear on him. Then Carmelo Hayes climbed up to hit a splash, but Randy Orton nailed a midair RKO on Hayes as he landed on Knight for the win.
On Mondays RAW, Sami Zayn defeated Bron Breakker, Penta, and Dominik Mysterio in a qualifying match. The winners will move on to Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on June 28. We will have to see who ends up winning the King of the Ring tournament this year.
