Vince McMahon might be gone from WWE, but the conversation about his return isnt going away. And now, his son Shane McMahon is adding fuel to the fire.
While speaking with TMZ in a video published on June 7, 2025, Shane was directly asked about the persistent rumors that Vince is looking to buy WWE back from TKO. Instead of shutting it down, Shane left the door wide open.
When asked about the chatter surrounding Vince McMahons rumored buyback attempt, Shane kept things vaguebut not dismissive.
This comes just days after Jonathan Coachman stirred the pot by claiming on Behind the Turnbuckle that hes been hearing from people within the industry that Vince McMahon wants back in.
Coachman didnt say a deal was in motion, but he insisted the interest is realand considering his ties to the business, that was enough to spark widespread speculation. Even Vince Russo jumped in with a wild theory: that McMahon cut a deal with TKO and Ari Emanuel to act as placeholders while he weathered legal trouble, only to reclaim WWE when the dust settled.
But theres a major reality check to all this: Vince McMahon may want to take WWE backbut pulling it off is a whole different story. Since merging with UFC under TKO, WWEs market value has surged. Endeavor, Silver Lake, and Egon Durban collectively hold a controlling interest in the company. Even The Vanguard Group holds nearly as much stock as Vince.
Yes, McMahon still owns a significant chunkbut nowhere near enough to simply reclaim the company he built.
Still, Shane McMahons cryptic answer only adds fuel to the speculation. If Vince is truly playing the long game, he might be counting on the right opening to make his move.
