After debuting on the June 3 episode of WWE NXT, May dropped jaws by interrupting a massive brawl in the womens division. The lights went down, the crowd erupted, and there she wasdraped in gold and standing on the balcony like a queen claiming her throne. She made her intentions crystal clear: Im the next NXT Womens Champion.
But according to a new report from WrestleVotes, the Mariah May name might already be history. She will be getting a new name once its decided upon, the outlet revealed, confirming WWEs plan to rebrand the former AEW star now that shes made the jump.
Mays debut capped off a wild segment that saw NXT Womens Champion Jacy Jayne surrounded by challengers from all angles. Lainey Reid, Lola Vice, Jordynne Grace, Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan, and Lash Legend all stormed the sceneuntil Mays appearance froze the chaos.
The best womens division in the world just got a lot more glamorous, she declared, making it known shes here for the top prize and not to play second fiddle anymore.
Mariah Mays path to WWE ran through the UK indie scene and a standout run in Stardom before landing her in AEWs Timeless storyline alongside Toni Storm. While that story had potential, AEW ended it sooner than expectedperhaps because Mays eyes were already on Orlando.
Now shes officially part of WWEjust not for long under the name Mariah May. Fans can expect a full repackaging soon, which has become tradition when stars jump from another promotion.
