The backlash against WWEs recent roster cuts isnt dying downand now insiders are calling out the companys new corporate leadership for creating a far more ruthless environment behind the scenes.
On the June 2, 2025 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the latest wave of WWE releases, including Sarah Logan (aka Valhalla). But the bigger story, according to Meltzer, is how WWE has changed since being bought out and folded into the TKO Group under Endeavor. Meltzer made it clear: the era of emotional farewells and respect for tenure is over.
He didnt stop there. Meltzer pointed out that many of these decisionssuch as letting go of veterans like Carlito, R-Truth, Carmella, and Sarah Logancome down to bottom-line thinking.
WWE is now under the TKO Group umbrella, a corporate entity created after Endeavor acquired WWE and merged it with UFC. Since the takeover, the companys approach has shifted dramaticallyfocusing on data, cost-efficiency, and streamlined branding. Gone are the days when loyalty or long-term contributions meant job security. If the role is deemed redundant, youre outno matter how long youve been there.
Sarah Logan, for example, was informed that her contract would not be renewed. She later posted a heartfelt goodbye, admitting, To be completely honest my ego cant help but be damaged. You always assume that when you end a lifelong career there is going to be a grand exit.
That kind of raw emotion seems at odds with the cold calculus WWE is now operating underone where legacy talent can be erased at the stroke of a pen.
