WWE is turning back the clock for Worlds Collideand Puerto Rican legend Savio Vega is stepping into the mix.
According to a new report from PWInsider, WWE is bringing in Savio Vega for the WWE x AAA: Worlds Collide event this Saturday, June 7, at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. The former WWE stars involvement marks a surprise twist for the international crossover show, already stacked with top-tier talent from both promotions.
Vega has deep roots with both companies. He wrestled for WWE throughout the 1990s, becoming a fan favorite as part of the Nation of Domination and the Los Boricuas stable. He later carved out a lasting legacy in Puerto Rico through his work with the IWA promotion and was instrumental in cross-promotion efforts between WWE and WWC. More recently, Vega made a one-night return at WWE Backlash 2023 in San Juan, where his presence was met with thunderous crowd support.
As for AAA, Vega competed across Mexico in the early part of his career and maintained close ties with lucha libre veterans, making his return in this crossover event especially fitting.
The rest of the Worlds Collide card is stacked with international heat. Stephanie Vaquer is set to team up with Lola Vice against Dalys and Chik Tormenta in a tag bout, while Ethan Page will defend his NXT North American Championship in a fatal four-way featuring Rey Fenix, Laredo Kid, and JeVon Evans.
Savio Vegas presence brings old-school respect to a show already promising nonstop action. Whether he appears in a speaking role, helps out backstage, or even steps into the ring remains to be seenbut his involvement guarantees eyes from longtime fans.
