El Hijo del Vikingo is back on top in AAAand just in time for a showdown with WWEs Chad Gable.

At AAAs latest event, Vikingo defeated Alberto El Patron to reclaim the AAA Mega Championship, officially beginning his second reign with the title. His first run with the belt lasted a record-breaking 833 days, the longest in company history.

The timing of the win turned heads, especially since WWE had already promoted the upcoming WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event as a title match between Vikingo and Chad Gablebefore the title change had even happened. That graphic aired during Raw, tipping off fans that a switch was likely coming.

Beyond the WWE promo slip-up, there was growing speculation that El Patrons status as champion wasnt sitting well with WWE leadership. While he held the title, El Patron had been completely absent from WWEs promotional content following their acquisition of AAA, adding fuel to the theory that a change was inevitable.

With the belt now back around Vikingos waist, it clears the way for AAA to move forward with a Mega Championship defense that aligns more cleanly with WWEs directionand gives Gable a high-profile international match with real stakes.

As for Alberto El Patron, questions remain. His future with AAAand any possible ties with WWEare as unclear as ever. But one things certain: he wont be carrying the AAA Mega Title into any WWE building.

Was this the right call putting the title back on Vikingo, or should AAA have stuck with El Patron? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
