The speculation gained traction after Coachmans appearance on Behind the Turnbuckle, where he discussed the potential for McMahons return to the company. However, Coachman clarified that his words were taken out of context.
In an update on May 30, 2025, Coachman took to Twitter to address the confusion and set the record straight. He explained that he never directly said Vince was actively trying to buy WWE but rather mentioned that McMahon had shown interest in doing so if the circumstances were right. Coachman wrote:

This update comes after widespread speculation, including theories from Vince Russo, suggesting McMahon had planned for his departure from WWE with the intention of coming back once his legal troubles were behind him. Russo theorized that McMahon may have made a deal with TKO to temporarily step away and return later to buy back WWE.
Now, with Coachmans clarification, it appears the rumors were based on a misunderstanding of his original comments. McMahons return to WWE ownership remains speculative, with no concrete plans confirmed as of yet.
