Trick Williams might be holding the TNA World Championship, but not everyone is celebrating without questions especially Tommy Dreamer.

On the May 28, 2025 episode of Busted Open Radio, Dreamer, who also serves as a creative member for TNA, got real about the complications of putting your companys top title on a wrestler who doesnt even work for you.

The segment started with praise for Tricks performance on WWE NXT, including his promo and his win over Joe Hendry at Battleground. But Dreamer, who works behind the scenes at TNA, didnt hold back when the conversation turned to what happens if WWE suddenly changes course.

Dreamer laid out the uncomfortable truth that WWE could pull Trick off NXT at any moment, which would leave TNA without a champion and no real say in the matter.

Co-host Dave LaGreca added that this is something fans might not always consider, especially when the cross-promotional storyline is running so smoothly on TV. Dreamer doubled down on the issue:

Dreamer closed the segment by laying out a worst-case scenario one that doesnt sound so far-fetched in the world of live event conflicts and last-minute creative changes.

Its a rare moment of transparency about the business side of pro wrestling. While fans may be thrilled by the cross-promotion, Dreamer just reminded everyone that business comes first and titles come with contracts for a reason.
