Cody Rhodes may be honored with a roller coaster named after his old WWE personabut he still hasnt taken it for a spin.
While on hiatus from WWE, the former WWE Champion appeared at the official grand opening of Universal Studios Epic Universe in Orlando on May 21, alongside his wife Brandi Rhodes, and the topic of the Stardust Racers ride came up during the events launch stream.
The coaster, named after Rhodes former ring name Stardust, was celebrated during the stream, but when asked how it felt to have the attraction named after him, Rhodes admitted he still hasnt been on it. We havent rode it yet. So, thats the big get, he said. If its going to be named Stardust, I want it to really take us to the fifth dimension, you know? And Ive heard nothing but good things.
The whole moment came with a mix of nostalgia and self-deprecating humor. The lowest point of my career has turned into joy for so many people, Rhodes joked, referring to his Stardust character, which had long been seen as a low point creatively before he reinvented himself and rose to main event status.
Fans online were already upset after Rhodes was a no-show at the May 16 episode of SmackDown in Greensboro, despite being advertised. Now, seeing him at a theme parkand not in the WWE ringhas only added fuel to the fire. And the fact that he hasnt even tried out the ride bearing his old persona? Thats just adding to the weirdness of it all.
