Kayden Carter is wasting no time moving forward after her WWE release.
The former Womens Tag Team Champion took to Instagram on May 15, 2025, to update her followers on her post-WWE plans. Carter, who started her WWE career as Lacey Lane before rebranding, made it clear shes not stepping away from the spotlight.
I just want to tell you guys that Im going to continue my journey on making content, Carter said. I hope I can continue to entertain you guys with my funny skits, my food reviews, and anything that has to do with my life. Because I always love sharing that with you guys, so I hope that you guys can continue to follow me on my journey to see where this whole adventure takes us next. So, heres to new beginnings.
Carters message comes after her WWE release on May 2, which saw her and 16 other talents let go in a wave of post-WrestleMania cuts. WWE did not renew Shotzis contract, but the rest were outright released. Carter had been with WWE since 2018, starting as Lacey Lane in NXT before forming a tag team with Kacy Catanzaro, who was later renamed Katana Chance.
The duo became NXT Womens Tag Team Champions before getting called up to the main roster in the 2023 WWE Draft. That same year, they won the WWE Womens Tag Team Titles but dropped them to Damage CTRL after a brief 39-day reign. Despite the duos potential, they were rarely featured on television after losing the titles.
Now, Carter is reverting to her original ring name, Lacey Lane, as she prepares to return to the independent circuit while focusing on content creation. Her message to fans emphasized her excitement for new beginnings and her determination to stay connected with her audience through online content.
