AEW recorded the May 17th episode of AEW Collision from NOW Arena in Chicago, IL on May 15th. The action-packed night delivered some solid matchups, and here are the spoiler results.
Megan Bayne defeated Anna Jay in singles competition.
The Steve Mongo McMichael tribute was hosted by Tony Schiavone. Mongos wife, Misty, came out and said he was the most special person in her life. She talked about his impact in football and wrestling. Dean Malenko was introduced, and Schiavone spoke about Mongos football achievements. He also mentioned his wrestling career and that May was ALS Awareness Month.
Then Ric Flair came out and hugged everyone. Flair said Chicago was one of the best wrestling cities ever. He remembered losing the World Title there to Ricky Steamboat and said the crowd was always loud and full of energy. He said AEW was giving fans a chance to celebrate McMichael.
Flair thanked everyone for honoring him, saying Mongo was the toughest man he had ever known. He mentioned how Mongo fought ALS for six years and how Misty stayed by his side and even learned to be his nurse. The crowd chanted for Mongo. Flair thanked AEW and Tony Khan for the chance to pay tribute.
ROH Champion Bandido, Tomohiro Ishii, and Brody King beat Rocky Romero, Lance Archer, and Trent Beretta. After the match, the winners were attacked, but The Outrunners came out for the save.
Speedball Mike Bailey pinned Blake Christian. He then called out Kazuchika Okada for a match. Okada came out, but Rush and Dralistico attacked Bailey and left him laid out.
Big Bill and Bryan Keith won a Chicago Street Fight against The Gates of Agony.
ROH Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara defeated the CRU to earn a match against the Hurt Syndicate at Double or Nothing.
Powerhouse Hobbs picked up the win over Wheeler Yuta. After the match, Marina Shafir attacked Hobbs, but Willow Nightingale ran out and saved him. This concluded the tapings.
