TKO President Mark Shapiro outlined WWEs strategy for Premium Live Events during the JP Morgan Conference on May 13, 2025. Shapiro discussed WWEs ongoing plan to deliver fewer matches per event, focusing on quality over quantity.
Under TKO management, WWE has been moving toward shorter PLEs with fewer matches, a format seen in events throughout 2025. WWE Backlash, which featured just five matches, was a clear indication of this approach, as was WrestleMania 41, which also had a more streamlined card.
The goal is to keep each event focused on key storylines and marquee talent, preventing shows from feeling bloated or overly drawn out. Its believed that upcoming events like Money in the Bank in Los Angeles and Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia, will follow the same format, emphasizing fewer but more impactful matches.
Shapiros comments reflect a shift in WWEs overall strategy as the company aims to position its PLEs as must-see, storyline-driven events rather than overstuffed marathon shows. The strategy is part of TKOs broader effort to elevate WWEs content under its new structure.
Do you think WWEs focus on shorter PLEs is the right move, or should they bring back longer match cards? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
