Joe Hendry made his shocking appearance at the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event, which was simply the beginning of things to come for Hendry. However, it appears that Hendry was worried he might have cost himself the opportunity after a tweet last year.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Joe Hendry was genuinely concerned that he might have ruined his chance to appear in the Royal Rumble because of a tweet he made last year. After posting it, he realized he might have made a mistake and thought, Well, I mightve just ruined this for myself.
Hendry explained that the scariest moments usually happen when you tweet with emotion instead of logic. One day, a fan tweeted that he was falling off, and although he was joking, he responded emotionally. At the time, he had no idea he would be selected for the Rumble, but he tweeted, Lets see how well this tweet ages in about four months, picking a general timeframe without thinking too much.
That tweet blew up, and later Hendry found himself having serious conversations with friends and family. He admitted that if he ended up not being in the Rumble because of that tweet, he would have to accept the consequences, acknowledge the mistake, and take responsibility. For a moment, he really believed he might have cost himself a major opportunity with WWE.
Thankfully, WWE didnt feel his tweet was in bad taste as he clearly made a major impact at the Royal Rumble, and it was followed up with a huge moment with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41. With Hendry set to defend his TNA World Championship against Trick Williams at NXT Battleground, fans can expect to see him involved with WWE for longer now.
