WWE also acknowledged Sabus 2006 run with the company during the ECW revival, where he battled Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Championship and John Cena for the WWE Championship. The statement noted his memorable appearance at WrestleMania 23 in Detroit, where Sabu teamed with fellow ECW Originals The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, and Rob Van Dam in a match that drew over 80,000 fans.
