Arsenal have been handed a double injury boost ahead of the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, as both Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori trained on Tuesday.

The Gunners need to overturn a 1-0 deficit in Paris on Wednesday night to reach the Champions League final for just the second time in their history. Ousmane Dembele, who's been passed fit to play in the return leg after recovering from a minor hamstring injury, struck the decisive blow early on at the Emirates last week.

Never before have Arsenal lost a home first leg in the Champions League knockout stages and gone on to advance, so Mikel Arteta's side have the chance to make history in Paris.

While the visitors are still without a whole host of stars, including Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, Timber and Calafiori are poised to be available after training on Tuesday, per The Athletic, before the squad travels across the English Channel.

Timber was absent at the weekend as the Gunners lost 2-1 at home to Bournemouth in the Premier League - a result which extended their domestic malaise - and Arteta confirmed over the weekend that the Dutchman was a doubt to feature in Paris. The right-back had been dealing with a knock sustained in the first leg last Tuesday.

Asked after the Cherries' 2-1 victory at the Emirates whether he was confident Timber would be fit for the second leg, the Arsenal boss replied: "Confident? At the moment no, because he wasn't able to play here and we play in four days."

Calafiori, meanwhile, has been out of action since picking up an awkward knee injury while playing for Italy during the March international break. A start is unlikely for the Italian on Wednesday given that he's been out of action for six weeks and Myles Lewis-Skelly has continued to impress in his absence.

The swashbuckling defender has endured an injury-hit debut season in north London but has shown himself to be a useful attacking asset when he's taken to the field. With the Gunners in need of something special to prevail on Wednesday night, Calafiori could prove to be Arteta's trump card.
