Jeff Cobb is officially WWE-boundand this time, its not just speculation.
After months of whispers and misleading retirement talk, Fightful Select has confirmed that the former NJPW standout is still on track to join WWE. Despite appearing to play coy about his future, Cobb wrapped up his New Japan Pro Wrestling obligations knowing full well where he was headed next.
Back in early reports, Cobbs name had already shown up on internal WWE rosters. Yet he continued to fulfill his NJPW dates, including a tag team title run that, according to insiders, left some in the company scratching their heads. They knew he was finishing up, a source told Fightful, referencing NJPWs decision to keep Cobb in the spotlight.
Although WWE has not publicly announced which brand Cobb will land on, multiple sources have reiterated that the former Olympian is joining the company on what was described as a good deal.
Previously, WrestleVotes Radio had discussed internal WWE creative conversations about Cobb, with debate over whether he should go straight to the main roster or start off in NXT. While some believe his age and experience make him better suited for Raw or SmackDown, others have argued he could bring much-needed leadership to NXTs mens division.
One thing is clear: Cobbs WWE debut isnt a matter of if, but whenand fans are already speculating how the powerhouse will shake things up once he finally arrives.
