Liv Morgan is heading to Japan to film Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, but WWE is not stripping her and Raquel Rodriguez of the Womens Tag Team Championships. Despite Morgan being off television for up to a month, the team will remain champions throughout her absence.

Morgan requested time off during the April 29 episode of Raw in a backstage segment with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. The break was granted on-screen, allowing Morgan to step away from in-ring competition as she prepares to begin production on the upcoming thriller, directed by Takeshi Miike and set to begin filming this month.

In the film, Morgan plays the daughter of a powerful politician who goes missing, opposite co-stars Lily James and Shun Oguri. It marks Morgans first major role in a feature film and a major crossover moment in her career.

Despite stepping away temporarily, WWE has no plans to vacate the titles. Morgan and Rodriguez will remain the official WWE Womens Tag Team Champions, with the expectation that they will resume their reign once Morgan completes filming and returns to action.

Morgans absence will be short-term, and WWE is making it clear theyre backing one of their most prominent stars as she takes on a high-profile opportunity outside the ring.
