Nick Aldis has been at the center of speculation ever since he took an RKO from Randy Orton on the road to WrestleMania 41. But despite fan chatter about a possible match between the two, a new report has cleared things upand revealed that Aldis return to the ring is very much on his own terms.

On WrestleVotes Radio via WrestleBinge, JoeyVotes confirmed that Aldis was never considered as Ortons WrestleMania opponent. That spot was always going to Joe Hendry. However, Aldis is still very open to returning to in-ring competition for the first time since October 2023.

Hes open to making an in-ring return, JoeyVotes shared. But only if the story being presented is something that actually interests him.

The move back to wrestling wont be rushed either. TC added that WWE is being strategic about how they use Aldis. While he may be a former world champion, his role as SmackDown General Manager has been positioned as one of authority, not actionand WWE wants to keep it that way unless the timing and story are perfect.

They dont want the GMs constantly getting physical, TC explained. Thats why Aldis wasnt involved in an angle with Orton despite the RKO. WWE wants authority figures who lay down the law without stepping into the ring unless theres a real reason.

This deliberate approach was reinforced by WWEs past use of Adam Pearce, who also rarely gets physical despite past experience in the ring. The same philosophy now applies to Aldis, even though the visual tension with stars like Orton and Roman Reigns has added fuel to the fire.

Interestingly, the $50,000 fine Orton paid late last year was said to be a way to close the door on a potential angle with Aldisat least for the time being. Still, this marks the second time WWE has teased physicality with Aldis, with the first being a tense on-screen confrontation with Roman Reigns on SmackDown.

Nick Aldis returning to in-ring action could still happen, but it wont be rushedand it wont be random. WWE appears to be saving it for the right moment and the right story.
