Back in the July 2022, a heated argument ensued between AEW President Tony Khan and former ROH talent Jonathan Gresham. Gresham, the then ROH World Champion, was upset that he was instructed to drop his championship to Claudio Castagnoli just minutes before stepping through the curtain at Death Before Dishonor, among other things. After doing what he was asked, Gresham asked for his release from ROH, which Khan granted. However, the two have not spoken to one another since, despite multiple attempts from Gresham. Even though things look grim at the moment, the former champion hopes that one day he and Khan can settle things, and that he can return to his old stomping grounds in ROH."I'm never going to say never, but I've reached out several times to apologize in person when they've come here to Atlanta...I'm just going to say 'no' was the answer that I got. And that's fair," the former ROH Pure and World Champion said on "Grapsody Podcast." "The way that I went off, I probably wouldn't want to talk to me either. But again, I think we should also look at why did he go off? I just didn't arrive at the show and go, 'You know what, motherf***er?' That's not what happened. There was a reason why, a buildup, frustration. And to be honest, to this day, I, again, I do not agree with how I went about it, but I think that I had good reason to be upset."Coming back from two serious strokes, "The Octopus" is not only back in the ring fighting, but he is also coaching and scouting the next new recruits through PRODUCE Wrestling. Earlier this month, he was made the chairman of the talent advisory council for the promotion. Furthering his mark in the industry, he is also launching his own promotion, M.A.G. (Modern Age Grappling), which will premiere on January 9, 2027.If you use any of the quotes in this article, please credit "Grapsody Podcast" with a h/t to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription.
