It's been an emotional period for Jon Moxley and his Death Riders, but he locked in at AEW WrestleDream 2026 to retain his AEW Continental Championship in a bloody battle against "Dunkzilla" Mark Davis.Moxley was thrown off by the strength of Davis at the start of the match, but continued to move forward with a number of punches and chops regardless. Davis wore Moxley down in the corner with a series of sliding elbows, the last one busting the champion open above the left eye. The challenger would take the action to the outside, hanging Moxley upside down letting the blood gush out of his head, and once the action returned to the ring, Davis continued to squeeze Moxley to encourage more blood-flow.The champion would continue to push through despite the blood-loss but was cut off at every turn, with Davis even biting the open wound to the point where Davis was covered in Moxley's blood. While taunting to the crowd, Davis was pushed to the outside to allow Moxley to hit a Tope Suicida despite being unsteady on his feet. It was Moxley's turn to hit punches in the corner before returning the favor and biting Davis' forehead. A series of Lariats wouldn't send Davis down but a Cutter did and Moxley transitioned into an Armbar which Davis managed to escape from.Davis went for a Powerbomb but Moxley countered out of it, only for him to hit a Spinning Side Slam and two diving punches for a near fall. However, Davis almost ended the match completely with a Piledriver on the apron where Moxley just about beat the count out. Moxley was sent outside again but was encouraged back into the ring by the Death Riders, and when he returned he fired up with a Stomp. Moxley weathered the storm of Davis' strikes and landed a King Kong Lariat for a double down.Moxley encouraged Davis to land some strikes but it came back to haunt him as Moxley was caught in a Rear Naked Choke. However, he caught Davis in one of his own that led to a Bulldog Choke that Davis only got out of with a run into the corner. The action once again spilled to the outside where Moxley had the upper hand and hit another Tope Suicida, but took a Lariat to the back of the head and a German Suplex from a now bloody Davis. The challenger went for a Lariat of his own but got caught in a Death Rider that he was able to kick out of. In the end, Moxley almost got the job done with a Brutalizer, but did get the job done with another Rear Naked Choke to retain his title.
