
EmailPrintLOS ANGELES -- Chargers offensive tackle Rashawn Slater suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks in Seattle, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Follow-up testing Monday confirmed the injury.The two-time Pro Bowler was hurt in the fourth quarter of the 30-23 loss. After the game, he had a walking boot on his right foot and was using crutches.Slater missed all of last season after rupturing the patellar tendon in his left knee in training camp.Slater was among a lengthy list of Chargers players who were hurt Sunday as the team dropped to 0-4. Left guard Trevor Penning exited with a head injury, right tackle Joe Alt with a neck injury and wide receiver Ladd McConkey with a foot injury.For the final two drives, the Chargers trotted out an offensive line with four rookies -- Travis Burke, Jacob Spomer, Jake Slaughter, Logan Taylor -- to go with veteran Cole Strange. By that point, the Chargers didn't have any other linemen in uniform.Slater is in the first year of a four-year $114 million contract extension he signed in July 2025 that included $92 million guaranteed.
