It's been nearly six months since wrestling fans saw Drew McIntyre in a WWE ring. According to a new report, however, that status might finally change. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that McIntyre should be back on WWE programming "soon," adding that most of his acting commitments have been completed.Outside the WWE bubble, "The Scottish Warrior" has kept himself busy with filming for two new movies: "The Last Druid" and "Highlander." Both projects will see McIntyre starring alongside Academy Award winning actor Russell Crowe. "Highlander" also marks the second silver screen collaboration between McIntyre and former WWE star Dave Bautista. They previously worked together in "The Killer's Game," a 2024 action film in which McIntyre portrayed Scottish assassin Rory Mackenzie. In addition to newest action roles, McIntyre joined the first-ever WWE x ReelShort microdrama alongside fellow WWE stars Jacob Fatu and Joe Hendry. Filming for that is said to have recently finished, with the vertical entertainment series slated to release sometime this fall.McIntyre's latest WWE feud pitted him against Fatu in an Unsanctioned Match at WrestleMania 42. Whether the two will resume their story upon McIntyre's return to WWE TV is unclear. Currently, Fatu is entangled in a chaotic storyline with the 946 stable, with Jaida Parker, the newest member, running him over with a car last Monday on "WWE Raw."Prior to his hiatus, McIntyre was a regular fixture on the "WWE SmackDown" brand. In the midst of it, the brand has gained CM Punk, GUNTHER, Finn Balor, and a returning Kevin Owens, all of whom have history with McIntyre.
