Back in July 2026, it was reported that Sheamus would be departing WWE after nearly two decades with the company. The news was later confirmed by the man himself as he had opted not to extend his contract with WWE and was moved to the alumni page of the company's website that same week. However, his contract officially expired on October 1, meaning he is now a free agent, and the first question that people have asked of Sheamus is will he be joining AEW?Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select spoke to a source within AEW about the possibility of bringing Sheamus to the company in the near future, and while there has been no discussions between the two parties at the time of writing, there is likely to be some interest from AEW about signing Sheamus to a full-time deal. The AEW source confirmed that there has been some support surrounding the idea of Sheamus becoming "All Elite" from a handful of performers in the locker room, though a potential timeframe regarding if or when he could be joining has not been talked about. What is known is that Sheamus did turn down a revised offer from WWE when they approached him with a restructured deal.AEW has bolstered its roster significantly over the past few months. At the end of July, the Motor City Machine Guns officially signed with the company after becoming free agents, and they were quickly joined by Austin Creed and Kofi, now known as The New Level at AEW All In London 2026. Dani Luna would go on to become "All Elite" as she made her debut at AEW All Out 2026 on September 26, and former WWE Superstar Ilja Dragunov is also said to be on his way to AEW but he there has not been a confirmed date for when he will debut.
