WWE's IYO SKY has spoken about her former tag team partner Rhea Ripley's absence due to injury, explaining how the break will do Ripley a world of good.Ripley is currently out of action with a knee injury, having to undergo surgery. Prior to the injury, Ripley, the WWE Women's Champion, had a grueling schedule owing to her being a champ and one of the women's division's most popular stars. SKY addressed her friend's injury in an interview with "Ringer Wrestling," claiming that she was overworked before it happened."So, I'm not a text person, I'm not phone call person, so we haven't talked toomuch," she began. "But I totally understand what she's doing and why she needed to take time for now, 'cause she was being too busy, way busier than me. She was all over the world. She had main events, she had championship matches, and she has media interviews. I was thinking about when we were RHIYO, she had been to Crown Jewel in Australia, Perth, and she was crazy busy. I was always watching her, and sometimes I think about her, 'Oh my gosh, she's overworking,' something like that. So, as of now, she's injured, that makes me sad, but definitely she needs time to take time [off]. Definitely she needs."While Ripley will be on the sidelines for a little while, her former tag team partner is confident that she will return better than ever."But also I know her personality, she will come back when she becomes much stronger than before," she added.Ripley is still some way from returning to the ring, recently revealing that she only started walking and asking her fans to be patient with her recovery. When she does return, she won't be holding the WWE Women's Championship, which she had to relinquish due to her injury and is currently held by Chelsea Green.
