One of the funniest comments to date has been made about the new-look Lakers team.Former Laker Matt Barnes said that the now Luka Doncic-led LAL are the whitest Laker team since the Minneapolis Lakers. LOL.Without LeBron James on the team now, the roster definitely is made up a good chunk of CAWBs (Cold Ass White Boys).The purple and gold are this season led by Luka, Austin Reaves, Walker Kessler, Jake LaRavia and Quentin Grimes in their starting five.After the jokes were over, Barnes didnt want to say too much about how he thinks the team is going to go until he sees them connect on the court.But again, man, when youve got Luka and AR [Austin Reaves] out there, to me two of the best scoring guards in the league. They added some depth, Barnes said. To me, I just got to see it. Everyone wants to give a hot take and predict what they feel like theyre gonna do.The Lakers have spent the whole offseason building around Doncic and the team even fulfilled his request for a big man of his choosing by acquiring Walker Kessler via sign-and-trade.The team also extended Reaves, Doncics partner in crime on the court and also his close friend, by giving him a four-year, $185 million max contract.With so much uncertainty on and off the court, this season could be anything for them.Theyre trying to build around him. I dont know if there is new ownership or not, so they gotta kind of figure that out, Barnes said. The Lakers, whether theyre up or down, when theyre down, they dont stay down long.
