Former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom is set to resolve his DUI case in Las Vegas after agreeing to enter a no-contest plea, according to The Associated Press.Odoms attorney told The Associated Press that the former NBA champion will plead no contest to a reduced charge of reckless driving, avoiding a DUI conviction without admitting guilt. He had originally been scheduled to appear for a bench trial on Tuesday. The case stems from Odoms arrest on Jan. 17, when Nevada State Police pulled him over on a Las Vegas-area interstate. The 46-year-old was driving at more than 100 mph before changing lanes without signaling as officers attempted to stop him, according to police. The arrest report stated that both Odom and a passenger had red, watery eyes and smelled of marijuana. Police also said Odom gave multiple versions of events while speaking with the responding trooper before failing a field sobriety test. He was then arrested and charged with driving under the influence, speeding and failing to maintain his lane. The plea agreement reduces the most serious charge to reckless driving, bringing the legal matter to a close without Odom admitting criminal liability for DUI.Odom was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft after starring at Rhode Island and went on to play 14 NBA seasons. He won back-to-back championships with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010 and was named the NBAs Sixth Man of the Year during his career.Off the court, Odom has been open about his long battle with substance abuse. His struggles became widely publicized following his marriage to Khlo Kardashian, with the couple divorcing in 2016.Related Article: Giannis Antetokounmpo Bids Emotional Farewell to MilwaukeeIn 2015, Odom suffered a near-fatal overdose after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel.
