
Boston Celtics fan favorite Isaiah Thomas is reportedly heading back to Boston, but this time hell be working off the court.Thomas is rejoining the Celtics organization as a pro and college scout, marking a new chapter for the former All-Star after years of attempting NBA comebacks, according to Boston Globe journalist Adam Himmelsbach.Thomas has already been working alongside Boston executives this week at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.The Celtics currently own the No. 27 overall pick in next months draft, and the organization appears to be giving Thomas an early hands-on introduction to front office life.The move also brings Thomas back to the franchise where he played the best basketball of his career.After arriving in Boston during the 2014-15 season, he quickly became one of the leagues most electric scorers and helped transform the Celtics into a contender in the Eastern Conference.He earned back-to-back All-Star selections in 2016 and 2017 while becoming one of the most beloved players in franchise history.That stretch came to an abrupt halt during the 2017 playoffs when Thomas suffered the hip injury that ultimately changed the trajectory of his career.Ahead of the following season, Boston traded Thomas to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the blockbuster deal that brought Kyrie Irving to the Celtics. Injuries continued to derail Thomas afterward, leading to stints with multiple franchises across the NBA over the next several years.Even after bouncing around the league, he never fully gave up on playing.
