AAA Rey de Reyes 2026 already gave fans a big moment when Penta teased a possible Lucha Brothers reunion with Rey Fenix but the real update coming out of the event is about Pentas next title defense. After the show wrapped, AAA taped the next two weeks of television and during those tapings a major match involving Penta was officially set in motion. During the taping, El Hijo del Vikingo confronted Penta in the ring, with Omos also present, immediately turning the segment tense. The confrontation quickly escalated, and it was announced that Penta will defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Vikingo. The setup instantly positioned the match as one of AAAs next marquee attractions. With AAAs next live event scheduled for April 11 at Gimnasio Olmpico in Mexico City, all signs now point to that show hosting the championship match between the two high-flying stars. This comes after Penta had already created a huge reaction earlier in the night at Rey de Reyes when he walked to the ring carrying the Intercontinental Championship and shared a brief in-ring moment with Rey Fenix even teasing that the Lucha Brothers could reunite in AAA in the future. But while that tease grabbed attention, the bigger development now appears to be the newly set title defense. If the plan holds, Penta vs. Vikingo could end up being one of the biggest matches on AAAs upcoming Mexico City card. Do you think Vikingo has a real chance to take the Intercontinental Championship from Penta, or will Penta walk out of Mexico City still holding the title? Let us know what you think.
