With a few high-profile professional wrestling stars hanging up their boots in recent months, like NJPW's Hiroshi Tanahashi and WWE's AJ Styles, as well as mega star John Cena, the idea of retirement is something that's being spoken about a lot across the industry, even by younger stars just speculating on their own futures. On an episode of "Being the Elite," where they took fan questions, the Young Bucks, AEW's Matt and Nick Jackson, spoke about their possible future after their in-ring careers wrap up, and if they plan on staying within the business."Hell no," Matt said. "Hell no.""I say that now, but I think I've always envisioned running a small independent company, maybe," Nick admitted. "Not even a company. Maybe just spot shows here and there.""I could see us doing something eventually," Matt then backtracked. "I've talked about this before, we'll see. If you asked me right now I'd be like, 'Pfft, no.' But, if you asked me in a few weeks, I'd be like, 'Maybe.' In a couple months? 'Yeah, for sure.'"The brothers have 22 years in the business under their belts, including time in Chikara, TNA, Dragon Gate, Ring of Honor, and even two very brief stints in WWE. They teamed up alongside Cody Rhodes in 2018 to hold the first All In, leading to the creation of AEW, where they have served as Executive Vice Presidents while remaining active in the ring. The Young Bucks lost their EVP status, however, in storyline, in a defeat to Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay at All In Texas 2025.If you use any quotes from this article, please credit "Being the Elite" and provide a h/t to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription.
