WWE is officially feeling the pressure ahead of WrestleMania 42and now its all hands on deck. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE held a major internal meeting on February 11 to address lower-than-expected ticket sales for this years two-night event at Allegiant Stadium. Sources say every department has been instructed to ramp up promotional efforts in the final stretch toward April. Despite speculation that WWE might slash ticket prices to help move seats, thats reportedly not the casefor now: Additionally, were told WWE intends to keep current ticket pricing as is for the time being. This update comes just days after Wrestling Observer Radio reported growing backstage frustration over Triple Hs WrestleMania plansor lack thereof. Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE had a full card set before the Royal Rumble, but panic over sluggish early sales caused those plans to be thrown into chaos. That uncertainty has drawn criticism of Paul Levesques leadership, with some insiders comparing the current chaos to Vince McMahons last-minute booking style. Whats fueling the confusion? According to Meltzer, WWE is changing creative despite the fact that fans havent even seen the lineup. While CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns is locked in, other major matchesincluding a potential Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre boutare reportedly not guaranteed. And as Bryan Alvarez pointed out, the ticket problems may have less to do with match quality and more to do with the cost of attending. As of this past week, WrestleTix reported that approximately 36,000 tickets had been distributed for each night of WrestleMania 42roughly 10,000 fewer per night compared to the same point last year. WrestleMania 41 eventually finished with between 56,000 and 60,000 tickets per night, meaning WWE still has serious ground to make up. Between surging ticket prices, inflated hotel rates in Las Vegas, and international fans saving up for the World Cup, WWE is battling an uphill climb to fill Allegiant Stadium.
