Becky Lynch has finally opened up about her WWE absence in 2024 and it turns out, it was a choice she made to prioritize her mental health and family.

Speaking during WWE Unreal Season 2 on January 20, 2026, Lynch explained that she personally requested time off before her contract expired in mid-2024. Reflecting on that period, she admitted she was completely burnt out after pushing herself non-stop since returning from maternity leave.

She recalled how life on the road had begun taking an emotional toll, especially on her relationship with her daughter. Lynch said she noticed her daughter was upset whenever she came home, which made her realize she needed to pause.

According to Lynch, she approached Triple H in May 2024 with her decision, informing him that her contract was ending and she wanted a break. Triple H was understanding, agreeing to pause the deal with the intent to revisit it later.

As previously reported by Fightful Select, Lynch officially became a free agent on June 1, 2024, after choosing not to sign a new deal before her contract expired. She would ultimately return at WrestleMania 41 in 2025.

Now that shes speaking honestly about that decision, its clear Lynchs time away wasnt the result of backstage drama or contract disputesit was a deliberate step to reset, reconnect, and recharge.

What do you think about Becky Lynch taking a break on her own terms? Was it the right move for The Man? Let us know in the comments.
