WWE SmackDown on January 9, 2026, took place at the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany, and the show closed with a main event that quickly turned chaotic. The night ended with a brand-new Undisputed World Champion.
Cody Rhodes defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre in a 3 Stages of Hell match. The first fall was a traditional wrestling match, the second went falls count anywhere, and the final stage took place inside a steel cage.
McIntyre picked up the first fall early, and the action spilled into the crowd during the falls count anywhere portion. Rhodes answered back by hitting Cross Rhodes through a table to even things up, which brought the steel cage down from the ceiling. After a brutal fight packed with near falls, Jacob Fatu hit the ring and took out McIntyre, who had been blamed for putting him out of action.
Fatu then shifted his focus to Rhodes, creating just enough chaos for McIntyre to escape the cage and win the match. McIntyre celebrated as he made his way out, securing his fourth World Title.
The finish stunned the crowd, but some fans werent completely caught off guard. Reports earlier in the day said Fatu had been spotted backstage in Germany, which sent everything into all gas and no brakes. We also have a new Undisputed World Champion.
