CM Punk has no time for fans who rage online just because things didnt go the way they imagined.
The WWE World Heavyweight Champion didnt hold back during his My Moms Basement interview while promoting his new movie Night Patrol. When the conversation shifted to the Stranger Things series finale and the polarizing finish to John Cena vs. Gunther, Punk fired off a blunt critique of modern fandom and its toxic relationship with fantasy booking.
Punk then turned his attention to wrestling fans who rely on internet scoops and let speculation drive their outrage.
He compared the whole situation to the way people reacted to Stranger Things ambiguous endinganother case, in his eyes, of people projecting expectations onto something they dont control.
Punks honesty isnt surprising, but calling overreactive fan behavior a slight mental illness is definitely going to stir debate. Whether its wrestling storylines or Netflix finales, Punk is clearly tired of outrage-driven fandom.
