Stephanie Vaquer might be on the shelf, but theres finally an update on Stephanie Vaquers ankle injuryand it turns out theres more to it than just storyline.
Following the brutal on-screen attack by Raquel Rodriguez on the January 5, 2026 episode of WWE RAW, fans questioned whether Vaquers ankle injury was part of the storyline or something more serious. Now we have an answer.
Speaking on the Post-RAW show, Fightfuls Sean Ross Sapp confirmed that the Womens World Champion is legitimately hurt.
While theres still no official timeline, Sapp pointed to one encouraging sign Vaquer is not in a cast and was even able to do some physical work on Monday Night RAW.
The injury angle was front and center on WWE Raw this week, and it played out across two brutal segments. Stephanie Vaquer made her entrance in Brooklyns Barclays Center wearing a walking boot and cut an emotional promo in both English and Spanish. She thanked the fans for standing by her, even acknowledging her respect for Nikki Bella and Raquel Rodriguez following their triple threat match the previous week.
But just as she tried to close out her segment with a defiant line this will not stop me Raquel Rodriguez stormed the ring and attacked her. However, Raquel didnt stop there.
After targeting Vaquers already-injured ankle with a vicious chair assault, she returned backstage later in the night to attack Vaquer a second time. WWE officials tried to intervene, but the damage was done. Commentary closed the segment with Michael Cole somberly stating, Stephanie is hurt bad.
Vaquer won the vacant Womens World Championship back on September 20, 2025, defeating IYO SKY at Wrestlepalooza and her reign has lasted over 100 days. But now, fans are left wondering if her time as champion is ticking down.
Do you think WWE should keep the title on Stephanie Vaquer until Elimination Chamber, or crown a new champion in her absence? Drop your thoughts below.
