The Washington Wizards have entered the conversation as a legitimate trade destination for Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young, with momentum building as the Hawks work directly with his representation on a potential resolution.

Washington has now surfaced as a team seriously monitoring the situation, with any potential framework expected to revolve around guard C.J. McCollums expiring contract, Marc Stein reported.

Adding to Steins report, Shams Charania said Trae is working with Atlanta on a trade.

Atlanta Hawks All-Star Trae Young and his agents, Aaron Mintz, Drew Morrison and Austin Brown, are working with the franchise on a trade, sources tell ESPN. Youngs reps and the Hawks have started collaborative talks over the last week on finding a resolution.

Shams added, The Hawks and Youngs agents have maintained positive dialogue on his future ever since the franchise elected not to offer a contract extension last summer ahead of his 2026 player option. Now the sides are working together on a trade out of Atlanta.

Youngs future in Atlanta has been a growing point of discussion for some time, but this season has only intensified the spotlight.

The four-time All-Star has appeared in just ten games during the 202526 campaign due to a lingering knee issue, and he has not played since December 27th.

In that loss to the New York Knicks, Young finished with nine points and ten assists but also committed six turnovers.

He missed the entire month of November, during which the Hawks went ten and five without him, adding further complexity to the situation.
