Stefanos Tsitsipas blames "strong personalities" on his past tension with Apostolos, but also adds that he and his father communicate much better after the infamous Montreal incident.

If you can recall, the Greek tennis star shouted at his father very early in his 2024 Montreal match against Kei Nishikori. The 58-year-old proceeded to stand and leave the stadium.

After Tsitsipas was beaten by Kei Nishikori in his opening Montreal match, he ripped his father by stating that he "was not the smartest in handling certain situations." The following day, the two-time Grand Slam finalist announced that he would no longer continue with Apostolos as his coach.

Even before the Montreal incident, it was rumored that there was tension between the two.

However, 11 months after their split, Tsitsipas decided to return Apostolos to his coaching staff.

Tsitsipas: We want to express out opinions... Sometimes they don't really co-align

The biggest issue in the past with me and my father is obviously we're two strong personalities, and we want to express our opinions. Sometimes they don't really co-align," the 27-year-old revealed when asked about the past tension with his father.

Taking a break from one another appears to have positively impacted the relationship and dynamics between the Tsitsipas duo.

I don't have any complaints. He's a much better communicator. That was the most important thing working with him. It's really important to stay honest and to stay true to yourself of what you think and what you think needs improvement. It's important to know where you put an end and a stop to it and accept and talk through certain things that might cause friction. So I believe so far we've been managing it better," the world No. 36 explained.
