Ashleigh Barty has once confirmed that returning to tennis is not an option for her as she enjoys being around her family and watching her kids grow.
Just before her 26th birthday in 2022, the former three-time Grand Slam champion announced that she was retiring from tennis.
In January 2022, Barty won her first Australian Open title. At the time, the Australian also held the world No. 1 ranking.
Following her big triumph in front of her home crowd, the former world No. 1 didn't play any tournaments in February. Then, she also withdrew from Indian Wells and Miami.
While the tennis world was surprised to see Barty missing the Sunshine Double, nobody was really ready for what was about to come. In late March of 2022, the Australian announced that she was done as a pro tennis player because she lost her motivation and passion for the game.
Since then, Barty tied the knot with her long-time partner Gerry Kissick and has welcomed two kids - a son Hayden born in 2023 and a daughter Jordan born in June 2025.
Barty: My No. 1 focus is being around my kids and my family
I dont miss living out of a suitcase, thats for sure. Ive always been very much a homebody and I love being at home. I love spending time with my kids, my sisters and my nieces and nephew. Im very, very happy living a boring, happy life," the former world No. 1 told The New Daily.
Obviously my No.1 priority and focus at the moment is being able to enjoy my kids and my family, and watch them grow and see them develop. I absolutely love my life. I love my kids. I love watching them learn and try new things and I cant wait to enjoy the next few years with them.
During her career, Barty won 15 titles and won all Grand Slams except the US Open.
