A three-month ban from the professional tour could have undermined the confidence Jannik Sinner had gained, but the Italian ace once again demonstrated his incredible mental strength and had another truly fantastic season.

Not only did the 24-year-old from Sesto Pusteria lift six trophies in 2025, but he also capped off his year with success at the Wimbledon Championships (becoming the first Italian player ever to achieve this feat) and suffered only one loss after the US Open. These results also allowed him to dream of finishing the season at the top of the ATP rankings, thanks in particular to his second consecutive triumph at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, but Carlos Alcaraz's excellent run in the last tournament of the year relegated him to second place, just 550 points behind.

Despite receiving criticism due to the doping case involving him, the four-time Grand Slam champion has continued to assert his innocence and hold his head high. The former world number one has not lost his confidence even after the bitter disappointment of the Roland Garros final, where he had to concede to Alcaraz after a thrilling five-hour battle (in which he failed to convert three match points in a row).

Jannik didn't disappoint

In a longinterview with Fanpage, Fabio Colangelo - who coached Lorenzo Sonego this season - praised Jannik's extraordinary skills: "His 2025 was even more amazing than the numbers suggest, because you have to consider that he went through a very difficult time. Although he had to deal with that doping case, he had the mental strength to continue playing his best tennis and his results were exceptional."

Colangelo also added: He received unfair criticism in most cases and he suffered as was to be expected, but he moved forward with his head held high and he was right. He is a champion in every sense of the word.

The current world number 2 is currently training in Dubai and has just completed a tough session with his compatriot Luciano Darderi.
