Brian Cage is dealing with more than just pain hes now facing a frustrating setback in his road to recovery following a brutal third knee surgery earlier this year.
After undergoing the procedure back in November, Cage was hopeful for a return to the ring possibly by AEW Full Gear. But in a new interview with Nick Teodoro, the Machine admitted things havent gone to plan.
Cage explained that the issue might be bursitis or irritation caused by an implant rubbing against his femur but either way, its slowed down his rehab and introduced a new kind of pain that wasnt there before.
That progress has come at a steep price, too the pain has been nearly unbearable. He admitted that, besides a few top-tier injuries, its one of the worst levels of pain hes ever felt.
Cage also made it clear he doesnt want anyone expecting a return just yet. He had a tentative comeback date in mind AEW Full Gear but now hes playing it close to the chest.
Cage has never been one to stay down for long, but this latest setback proves even machines break down and healing isnt always linear. Fans will have to wait and see when the powerhouse finally returns to AEW programming, as it might still be a long time.
Do you think Brian Cage will return better than ever or is this injury going to change the game for good? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
