Six-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz and coach Juan Carlos Ferrero have shockingly split after seven years together and achieving major success together.
Even before Alcaraz turned pro, he started working with 2003 French Open champion Ferrero. And their partnership turned into instant success as the Spaniard won seven titles on the lower-tier during the 2019 and 2020 seasons, before becoming an ATP champion in 2021 Umag. Already the following year, the first Grand Slam title and the world No. 1 ranking came.
This year alone, the Spaniard enjoyed an outstanding season after winning two Grand Slam titles and finishing as the Year-End No. 1. The 22-year-old won a total of eight titles this year and posted a 71-9 record - he led the Tour in wins and titles.
Needless to say, the Spanish tennis star's split with Ferrero sent shockwaves throughout the tennis world as nobody saw this coming.
Where Alcaraz goes from now?
The timing of their separation is interesting but also tricky as the new season starts in two weeks. If the six-time Grand Slam champion and Ferrero had some prior issues, they probably would have called time on their collaboration after the 2025 season ended. Now, if the world No. 1 wants to bring someone new for the start of 2026, he will have to act quickly.
"Now times of change are coming for both of us, new adventures and new projects. But Im certain well face them the right way, giving our best, as weve always done. Always adding up," the reigning US Open champion said.
