John Isner picked Jelena Ostapenko as his "2025 WTA MVP" only because he thought that the Latvian tennis star selling stuff online was "legendary."
Last month, Ostapenko drew major attention and made the headlines. However, it didn't because of tennis reasons, but because fans noticed that she was selling perfume samples and a vacuum cleaner through her Instagram account. The 2017 French Open champion was trolled by fans, but she seemingly took it as a joke and hit back later by revealing that every item was sold.
On the Nothing Major Show, Isner, Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey were asked to name the 2025 WTA MVP.

I am going Ostapenko. She is selling tournament gifts online, I think that is sort of legendary! Shes a bit different in a good way," Isner said.
Meanwhile, Johnson picked fellow American Amanda Anisimova. This year, the 24-year-old enjoyed a career-best season on the WTA Tour - she made her first two Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open - won the WTA 1000 tournaments in Doha and Beijing - and achieved a career-high ranking of No. 4.

Querrey named Mirra Andreeva, who was still when she won back-to-back WTA titles in Dubai and Indian Wells, and broke into the top-10 for the first time in her career. Querrey also noted that he admires Andreeva's personality.
