Mirra Andreeva's outstanding 2025 season has been recognized in her home country as the 18-year-old has won the Russian award and been named the Russian tennis player of the year.

Andreeva made a lightning start to 2025, winning back-to-back WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells just before her 18th birthday. Also, when the Russian rose to No. 9 in the world following her Dubai triumph, she became the youngest player since Nicola Vaidisova in 2007 to debut in the top-10 club.

In the rest of 2025, Andreeva didn't win any more titles but she still reached a career-high ranking of No. 5 after Wimbledon. The Russian was also inches away from securing a WTA Finals spot, but ultimately fell just short after Elena Rybakina grabbed the final Riyadh ticket.

Andreeva may have struggled in the second part of 2025, but she still won two WTA 1000 titles this year - finished the year ranked at No. 9 - and as the highest-ranked Russian female tennis player.

The 18-year-old wasn't present during the awards ceremony in Moscow, but one of her team members - Artem Derepasko - went to collect the award.

Andreeva: It's a pleasure to receive this award

"Thank you very much for choosing me as Tennis Player of the Year. It's a pleasure to receive this award, because a lot of hard work has gone into it. This prize is a huge bonus for me. I would have loved to be there in person, but a very important person will receive the award on my behalf," the top-ranked Russian female tennis player said in a statement, via RIA Novosti Sport.
