John Cena may have tapped out to GUNTHER in his final WWE match, but his father wasnt happy with how it ended.
Speaking with Bill Apter, Cenas father said he saw the emotional reactions in the crowdbut admitted that he didnt fully agree with the decision to have his son tap out to GUNTHER.
He acknowledged the long-standing wrestling tradition that legends go out on their backs, but still questioned the finish.
Cena Sr. made it clear that he would have preferred a different kind of ending. He explained that his sons subtle tap looked more like an effort to escape the hold than a full-on submission.
During the Saturday Nights Main Event post-show, Triple H addressed the backlash head-on and backed the booking completely.
And for those calling it the wrong move, Triple H didnt flinch as he made it clear he can easily deal with the criticism.
John Cenas final match may be in the books, but even his own father believes it couldve ended in a stronger waywithout a tap out.
