Alejandro Tabilo may be one of the rare players to have a positive head-to-head record against Novak Djokovic, but the Chilean admits he would prefer to see the record 24-time Grand Slam champion skip the upcoming Davis Cup tie between Chile and Serbia.

Tabilo, a three-time ATP champion and the current world No. 81, ousted Djokovic 6-2 6-3 in their first meeting at the 2024 Rome Masters. During this year's clay season, the two met again - this time at the Masters event in Monte Carlo - and the Chilean once registered a 6-3 6-4 win. In late 2025, the Serbian tennis giant got his first win over the 28-year-old after completing a 7-6 (3) 6-1 win on the hard courts of Athens.

Between February 06-08, Chile will host Serbia in a Davis Cup qualifiers tie. The general expectatation is that the host nation will opt for the tie to be played on clay.

Tabilo: Our crowd would love to see Djokovic, but I prefer he doesn't come

Its going to be a very tough series against Serbia, and well see if Novak comes. Obviously, for the public, it would be incredible if he comes, but for us, I prefer he doesn't, haha... We hope a lot of people come to support, whether Djokovic arrives or not, and well go out with everything to try and give the series to Chile. It would be nice to play against him in Chile, with the whole crowd. It would be incredible," the reigning Chengdu champion told En Cancha.

Earlier this month, Serbian Davis Cup team captain Viktor Troicki was asked if Djokovic would play against Chile. Troicki noted that it was "too early" to speak about that since the Chile tie comes shortly after the Australian Open.

Djokovic led Serbia to their lone Davis Cup title in 2010, and it remains to be seen if he will play against Chile in early February.
