The mystery surrounding WWEs masked attacker just took another turnand its bad news for anyone hoping Chris Jericho would be the man behind the chaos.
Despite his name being tossed around by fans online due to his legacy and history with WWE, Dave Meltzer made it clear in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Jericho isnt part of the storylineat least for now.
According to Meltzer, while WWE has kept things deliberately ambiguous by using multiple performers to throw fans off, Jericho isnt in the plans. Referencing speculation about Jericho delivering the curb stomp attacks, Meltzer wrote:
The masked figure first appeared at Survivor Series: WarGames, attacking CM Punk with a curb stompa move forever tied to Seth Rollins. Since then, the masked attacker has continued to strike on RAW, targeting top names like LA Knight and Rey Mysterio.
To keep the mystery alive, WWE has been swapping in different wrestlers under the hood. Bryan Alvarez recently confirmed that Montez Fordwho was originally rumored to have played the masked man on the December 8 episode of RAWwas not actually involved, contradicting an earlier report. Austin Theorys name has also been floated, but nothing has been confirmed.
With Jericho now out of the conversation, WWE fans are back in detective mode trying to figure out whos really behind the mask. The company seems dead set on swerving everyone until the final revealand so far, its working.
