Englishman Greg Owen won the MCB Mauritius Legends with a 198 (65, 68, 65, -18) shot, and Australian Scott Hend topped the order of merit. This was the verdict of the final competition of the Legends Tour, the circuit for "over-50s," played on the par-72 Constance Belle Mare Plage course in Mauritius. Emanuele Canonica finished 19th with a 207 (71, 68, 68, -9) after a good recovery following a slow start.
Gregory Clive Owen, 53, of Mansfield, claimed his first title with a final-round 65 (-7), the best score of the day, featuring ten birdies, a bogey, and a double bogey. His final birdie, on the 18th hole, was particularly noteworthy. This birdie allowed him to edge out India's Jeev Milha Singh and South Africa's Darren Fichardt, who had attempted to push him into a playoff, both of whom also birdied. However, they had to settle for second place with a 199 (-17). Owen previously had only one victory on the European Tour (now the DP World Tour), one on the Challenge Tour (now the HotelPlanner Tour), and one on the American Web.com Tour (now the Korn Ferry Tour).
